About Me

Reading is an absolute passion of mine! I am excited to serve as the Reading Specialist for Heartland Elementary and Western Avenue School.  It is a thrill to work in a professional capacity with such an amazing team of educators and an outstanding school community.
My ultimate goal as the Reading Specialist is to promote and facilitate an effective school-wide reading program to ensure each student develops the skills and habits needed to become a proficient reader.  The majority of my work focuses around four major areas: instruction, assessment, staff development, and reading resource development.  I work closely with each classroom teacher to monitor your child's growth in reading and I provide instruction to select students as needed for reading support.

This is my eighth year serving as a Reading Specialist in Geneva.  In addition to my position in Geneva, I am a faculty member at Aurora University teaching teachers in their graduate studies in the Art of Reading Instruction.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Alan.  We have a daughter {Olivia} who is in third grade and a son {Alexander} who is 4.  Along with our Labradoodle {Emmi}, our time is filled with hobbies, cooking, camping, and reading.

I am looking forward to a great year together!
